Winter Flowering Natives help create a colourful garden in the colder months and attract birdlife into landscapes when nectar is scarce. Plantmark loves:
Banksia - range in size from dwarf varieties to large trees. Some of our favourite Dwarf Varieties include 'Coastal Cushion'. 'Stumpy Gold', 'Birthday Candles' and 'Cherry Candles'

Hakea laurina(Pin Cushion Hakea) - An outstanding feature of this popular Australian native are its beautiful unusual flowers. The pincushion like flower heads are red/pink with prominent white, cream or pale pink styles and are around 5 centimetres across. It has leaves that look similar to a wattle or gum tree. Ideally suited as a screening plant or used as an informal hedging plant along boundaries and fence lines, it is a great plant to attract nectar feeding birds in winter. Grows to 6m high and 4m wide.

Correa - with stunning bell shaped flowers, Correas are tough, hardy plants which are tolerant to a range of garden situations including shade, as well as full sun. Correas are available in upright or prostrate forms. Some favourites include Correa alba, Correa reflexa, Correa baeuerlenii and Correa pulchella.

Lechenaultia biloba - a very popular and spectacular small shrub with intense blue flowers. In suitable climates it is an ideal rockery or container plant, tolerating exposed, hot, sunny positions despite its delicate appearance. Lechenaultias require good drainage and are best grown in sandy or free draining soils, with plenty of sun. Grows to 30cm to 1m high and 30cm to 1m wide.
Chrysocephalum apiculatum - a herbaceous perennial with bright yellow ball shaped flower heads in winter and spring, with grey/green foliage. It prefers sunny locations on light well drained soil. Grows to 15-25cm high and 40-50cm wide.
Derwentia arenaria - a small, multiple-stemmed shrub with upright stems of light green leaves and flowers that vary in colour from pale violet-blue to deep violet-blue. Thrives in a partly shaded position in moist well drained soil. Grows to 1m high and 40cm wide.
